Drawing the first.

Blast! David beat me to it. Regardless, here's my first submission. It's just a random abstract thing to start it all off. This is my favorite style of drawing. I'm hoping I'll be able to be a little more creative in the future, and I'm also hoping to get back into drawing some more realistic stuff as well, so stay tuned!

This was pencil, and then ink, on paper, photographed and then adjusted a little on my computer. I still don't have a decent image editing program on my mac, hopefully that will happen soon. Then I'll finally be able to make a decent banner for the top of the page, it's a little sad and lacking a title at the moment...

First day back at MUN today! I'm thinking that in-class doodles will make their way here more often than not...

Night!

#1 First Post Day!

Thank you Lauren. That is right, we are both going to post a picture, drawing or painting each day for the next year...

...And today is the first day! Yay! Do the first-post-day dance! *doesajig*

If you look up and to the left you will see my first picture. Okay it's a pet picture, so sue me. Ditch (the cat) has been my main test subject for trying to figure out how the new camera works. He doesn't like to pose for pictures. I now have many out-of-focus shots of his hind region.

I look forward to the next year. Hopefully I will learn something about photography and ultimately about myself (aww). I welcome all comments and constructive criticism.

So it begins.

Pilot

Welcome to Apertures and Ink!

Early in the morning of September 3rd, 2008 (today), David and I (Lauren), decided to undertake a 365 day art challenge. Inspired by David's brand spanking new Nikon D80, and my brand spanking new 2-pack of black felt tip pens, we decided that (starting tomorrow) David will post one of his photos, and I will post one of my drawings each day for 365 days.

What will have happened by September 3rd, 2009? No one knows, but we hope that we'll have successfully journeyed back into the world of visual art, and gained a little more skill along the way.

We hope that you enjoy our daily updates, photos, drawings, and the stories that we have to share.
